Library and API docs for coding agents
We gave Context7 and DeepWiki the 15 dev and docs questions from our search eval, each pointed at the library or repo an agent would pick. Both found fewer of the required facts than the better web search APIs did. Many of these questions are about hosted products whose answers live in current docs pages rather than in a library's README or code. DeepWiki answers from the repository, which suits questions about how code behaves. Every docs benchmark we found elsewhere is run by a vendor.
Required facts found, 15 dev and docs questions
Violet bars are docs tools; gold bars are web search APIs on the same 15 questions. String matching undercounts answer-style tools somewhat. DeepWiki scored 0.77 on the 13 questions with a public repo.
Adoption: GitHub stars
Stars measure attention, not answer quality. DeepWiki's count is its open-source runner; the hosted service has no repo of its own.
Tools
By GitHub stars, most first; tools without a public repo last, alphabetically. Links go to each vendor's own site.
